Life is beautiful, full of surprises, and unexpected twists. At least this has been my experience so far, and the "birth" of Niceville's first Pilates studio is no different. I moved to Niceville in December of 2016. I was 7 months pregnant with my third son, and left behind my life of 10 years along with my budding Pilates business in Pensacola FL.
I decided to remain optimistic about the move and hoped that here I would discover new opportunities to rebuild my business. However, as much as I tried the thought of building a small business while taking care of an infant and two older boys seemed impossible. But God had other plans, and slowly things, people, opportunities, started falling into place to make it all happen.
In a very short amount of time, I met several wonderful ladies that gave me a sense of belonging in my new community. Their friendship helped me from feeling overwhelmed, and kept my dream of continuing my Pilates career alive. In September of 2016, at the prompting of one of them, I decided to approach CD Williamson Karate and rent space to teach mat classes. I also started teaching privates (one-on-one customized workouts) out of my home studio.
The classes were/are small which has allowed me to focus on the ladies and give them an almost customized workout. I've watched them get stronger and more flexible. Their progress and enthusiasm continued to fuel my dream that maybe one day I could be the first one to open Niceville's first Pilates studio! But how and when were the big questions!
So after only six months of teaching here in Niceville, my husband and I were presented with an opportunity to lease the 1800 sqft space next door to CD Williamson! In the course of one discussion, I could see my dream materialize. Five years after falling in love with the Pilates method, three years of intense training and studying, and hundreds of hours of teaching and observation, culminating into THE STUDIO!
Now, its closer than ever! On May 1st, we will be in possession of the keys and begin transforming the existing space into a serene and welcoming Pilates studio!
In conclusion, if someone would have told me a year and a half ago, when I was brand new to the area and about to have my third baby, that I would also be having a fourth baby - a Pilates studio - I would have called them crazy! But I've learned in life to "never say never" - especially to dreams!
I hope you will follow me on my journey as I transform my passion and my dream into a reality!
